Workshop Details & Application Process
If you would like to apply for Recovery Week, then please let us know below. We encourage you to reach out to our Admissions Team at admissions@theallendercenter.org for questions and more information.
Recovery week applications for Spring 2023 are now closed. If you would like to be on the list to hear about the next openings for Recovery Week, please complete the form below.
Application Process
The first step is to submit an application. This form is available online and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Within the application form, you will be asked to provide one reference: ideally a mentor, pastor, small group leader, or counselor who knows your story and has journeyed with you. We will reach out to them directly with a recommendation form requesting their perspective on your application.
Once your application has been received, an Admissions Counselor will reach out to you to schedule an interview. Interviews will begin being scheduled by January 15. Our interviews are conducted online via Zoom by one of our facilitators or trained staff members. This is a space to get to know you and your story and discern timing and readiness for this workshop.
Costs & Payment Policy
The total cost of this workshop is $4,495. The fee completely covers the costs of the six-day intensive workshop, including lodging and meals. A $500 deposit is required to secure your seat at the time of registration. This non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is applied to your workshop fee.
When you register, you will have the option to pay your workshop fee in full or to pay in two installments ($1,997.50/each) or four installments ($998.75/each). A 3% processing fee applies to online payments.
Participation in the workshop will not be permitted until fees have been paid in full.
Scholarships
We believe in the importance of this work and do our best to make this offering accessible. If the cost of the workshop is a barrier, we encourage you to invite your community to consider sponsoring you. We are also grateful to be able to offer a limited number of partial scholarships thanks to the generosity of our donor community.
We offer two scholarship amounts: $750 and $2,000. We have a limited number of scholarships available and we attempt to reserve these scholarships for participants from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups and/or those experiencing high finanacial need.
If you are not a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color) applicant, please use the following guidelines:
To determine which scholarship amount is right for you, please refer to this Green Bottle Sliding Scale graphic designed by Alexis J. Cunningfolk.
If you fall into the “full bottle” category on the scale, we ask that you do not request a scholarship for this program. If you fall into the “half-full bottle” category on the scale, please request a scholarship amount of $750. If you fall into the “quarter-full bottle” category on this scale, please request a scholarship amount of $2000.
You may submit your request for a scholarship within the online application.
If you have been impacted by the work of The Allender Center and want to invest in healing spaces for those who have experienced sexual abuse, we would be honored to receive your gift. Visit our Giving page.
Prerequisite Learning Requirement
Individuals who are accepted into a Recovery Week will receive a discount code for the Healing the Wounded Heart online course. It is important to complete the online course before beginning your Recovery Week. Our hope is that this course will foster categories and a shared language that will deepen your experience.
Schedule
Recovery Week is a six day workshop beginning at 5pm on Day 1 and concluding at 1:30pm on Day 6. The schedule on Day 2-5 is generally 8:00am to 5:30pm. There is a special closing meal in the evening on Day 5 from 6:00-8:30pm.

Recovery Weeks include lodging for five nights and six days at a private retreat center. The exact location will be provided at the time of registration. Recovery Week participants must stay at the lodging provided by The Allender Center. All meals are included and accommodations will be made for dietary restrictions.
Travel
Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Recovery Week. We advise you to wait to make flight arrangements until you have received notification of your acceptance into the workshop. The Allender Center provides transportation from the airport to the retreat center.
Disclaimer
Recovery Week involves intensive exploration of your own story and the stories of others, but it is not group therapy. Recovery Week provides an opportunity to engage in restorative work within your story of abuse, but they do not act as a substitute for consistent therapeutic engagement and support. Due to the intensity of the week, it is highly recommended that applicants are either in personal counseling or part of an abuse recovery group.
