We are mindful of the vulnerability of this offering and take great care in discerning if the nature and timing of this experience aligns with our applicant’s needs.

Application Process

Applying to participate in a Recovery Week involves completing an online application, which takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. Within the application you will be asked to provide one reference who knows your story and has journeyed with you to offer additional perspective into your level of readiness for this workshop. A reference from a professional therapist or counselor who you are currently working with is preferred. References from a seasoned group leader, caregiver, lay counselor, or pastor are permitted if a therapist recommendation is not feasible.

A fee of $150 is required to submit your application. If accepted, this fee will be applied to your balance. If your application is not accepted at this time your fee will be refunded, less a $50 administration fee.

After your application has been received, our Admissions Counselor, Mary Krambeer, will contact you to schedule a phone interview. The 45-minute interview is intended to offer  space to get to know more of your story and discern your readiness for a workshop of this nature.

The cost for Recovery Week is $3,550 and includes participation in this six-day intensive workshop, lodging, and meals. A $150 application fee is required to submit your application, which will be applied to your balance if your application is accepted. Our Recovery Week workshops are intentionally designed to provide a safe, intimate space for restoration. Thus, space is extremely limited. If accepted, a $500 deposit is required to secure your seat.

The workshop balance may be paid in full or in two installments. You will have the opportunity to select your payment plan at the time of enrollment. Installment plans are subject to a 3% processing fee per payment. You will receive an email reminder 3 days prior to the payment due date with a link to make your payment securely online using your credit or debit card.

If the cost of the program is prohibitive to you, The Allender Center encourages you to invite your community (i.e. family, friends, place of worship) to consider partnering with you financially. If this option is not available to you, The Allender Center does have a limited number of partial scholarships ($500-$1,000) designated for participants demonstrating financial hardship as well as multicultural scholarships for applicants from underrepresented racial or ethnic communities. You can request financial assistant within the online application.

If you would like to make a gift to support the work of The Allender Center and to make Recovery Week accessible to those in need, we would be honored. Visit our Giving page to learn more.

Recovery Week lasts six days. The workshop begins at 5pm on Day 1 and concludes at 10:30am on Day 6. The schedule on Day 2-5 is generally 8:00am to 5:30pm. There is a special closing meal in the evening on Day 5 from 6:00-8:30pm.

Lodging & Meals

Recovery Weeks include lodging for five nights and six days at a  private retreat center. The exact location is not disclosed to the public but will be provided to accepted applicants. Recovery Week participants must stay at the lodging provided by The Allender Center. No other lodging arrangements are permitted. All meals are included and accommodations will be made for dietary restrictions, which can be submitted within the online application.

Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Recovery Week. We advise you to wait to make flight arrangements until you have received notification of your acceptance into the workshop and required arrival and departure times. The Allender Center provides transportation from the airport to the retreat center.

Recovery Week involves intensive exploration of your own story and the stories of others, but it is not group therapy. Recovery Week provides an opportunity to engage in restorative work within your story of abuse, but they do not act as a substitute for consistent, therapeutic engagement and support. Due to the intensity of the week, it is highly recommended that applicants are either in personal counseling or be a part of an abuse recovery group.
