Alicia Shafer, MDiv

Director of Programs

Alicia Shafer enjoys supporting the work and helping facilitate healing through programs at The Allender Center, where she joined in 2018. As Director of Programs, she wants to see us grow in accessibility and capacity in order to bring healing to more people and communities. She loves the people she works with and their commitment to caring for others and their own growth and development – and she loves to listen in on great teaching and training as part of her job!

With an MDiv from Fuller Seminary, Alicia’s experience also includes working with families experiencing homelessness, and ten years as a foster parent, caring for kids who had experienced early childhood trauma and loss. After seeing the ongoing impact of trauma, not just on one generation but on many generations, Alicia hopes to support personal healing from trauma for individuals and for societal change as well.

A Northwest native, Alicia lives in the Central District of Seattle with her five children, husband, and dog Murphy. She loves attending Spin class (cycling), thrifting, making pizza with her family, and enjoying a good cocktail or cup of coffee with friends.
