Laura Westbrook, MA, LPC

Facilitator

Laura is a Licensed Professional Counselor in North Texas near Dallas/Fort Worth. Her first introduction to what would become the Allender Center was through the book The Wounded Heart which she describes as having a profound impact on her life. After an early career in Human Resources and serving as a lay counselor and prayer minister in church over the years, she returned to school to pursue a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grace College in Winona Lake, IN, graduating in 2014.

Much of her post-graduate training has specialized in providing embodied trauma-informed care through a narrative-focused, emotionally attuned, and attachment-oriented lens. Her approach is grounded in deep respect for each client’s unique journey. She is in private practice at Hope Rising Counseling, working primarily with men and women with various forms of developmental trauma and sexual abuse.

When not working, she is typically dreaming about her next hike in the mountains somewhere with friends. She lives with her husband of 32 years and her two dogs and enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends at the lake.
