Dean Short, MA

Facilitator

Dean has lived abroad serving as a ministry leader for over 12 years. He is passionate about working with individuals and communities at the intersection of the gospel story, our stories of harm and heartache, and the sacred work of spiritual transformation. Prior to living abroad, he spent 10 years coaching soccer at the collegiate level.

Dean loves creating safe, intentional spaces where people can explore the formative stories that have shaped their identity and the ways they relate to God, themselves, and others. He believes healing unfolds when we are known and loved in the places of our deepest wounding and pain.

Dean holds a Master of Arts in Religion and Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University and has completed the Allender Center’s Certificate in Narrative Focused Trauma Care® (NFTC) Levels I, II, and III. He is honored to be a part of the Allender Center, where he facilitates for the NFTC Level I program.

Dean lives in central Virginia with his wife and their three children. Alongside his work shepherding leaders and communities globally, Dean offers trauma-informed coaching and soul care for individuals and ministry leaders at Dean Short Coaching + Soul Care.
